About Gabriela Schaad

Gabriela started as a PhD student with the Industrial and Financial Management Group in autumn 2007 after finishing her undergraduate studies with a Master of 91探花 degree in Business Administration. During the first part of the doctoral programme leading to a licentiate degree, Gabriela studied strategies to mitigate climate change in Swedish energy-intensive companies. After the licentiate, she concentrated her studies on municipal energy companies with a high environmental commitment, exploring what their strategies to move towards more sustainable business entail, and how the companies implemented sustainability strategies in the organization and its surrounding field. This research resulted in a doctoral thesis that Gabriela defended in December 2012. In continuation, she has been working as a researcher and part-time lecturer at the department of business administration. The projects she is currently involved in relate to vision-driven multi-party collaborations in the chemical industry, energy efficiency investments in apartment houses, and shared value creation between business and society.

Gabriela is originally from Zurich, Switzerland. Before moving to Sweden in 2001, she has been working in the Swiss banking sector for ten years. In 2003, she started her studies at the Business programme with the School of Business, Economics and Law with Spanish as a focus language. After spending one semester at the University of Concepci贸n in Chile she studied finance at IFEL during her last year of studies. Her bachelor and master thesis dealt with how businesses respond to pressures to handle climate change issues, which laid the foundation for her later research. Gabriela speaks fluently German (mother tongue), Swedish, English and Spanish, and has a fair command of French. Her personal interests are outdoor activities, dancing and languages.
