About Cecilia Bergstad

Biography

I started to work as a research assistant at this department (1997-2000) and at Chalmers University of Technology, Department of Transportation and Logistics (1998-1999). In 1998 I was admitted to the graduate program and obtained my M.S. Sc. in psychology, 2001, and my Ph.D. in psychology, 2004. Since then I have been employed as a teacher and researcher. During the years 2006-2009, I also worked in a research project at the Centre for Consumer 91̽»¨, School of business, economics and law, University 91̽»¨.

Teaching

I teach on all levels, mainly in social psychology, environmental psychology, personality psychology and survey methods. I also supervise doctoral students, bachelor and master theses.

Research interests

My research interests are focused on factors such as wellbeing, values, norms, attitudes, motivation, volitional control etc. that partly predict and may play an important role for changing environmental significant behaviours, such as travel behaviour consumption and household energy use. I am also interested in how such factors interplay with environmental (and transport) policy-making, acceptability and the implementation of policy measures and new technology. As an environmental psychologist I am also interested in how social and psychological factors interact with the physical built (artificial/digital) or natural (nature) environment.
