International advisors

An international adviser for Stroke Centrum Väst (SCV) is a recognized international expert who provides strategic guidance and global alignment to the activities of SCV through their experience, expertise and professional network.

Presentation of our current International Advisors

Turgut Tatlisumak

Turgut Tatlisumak, MD, PhD, FAHA, FESO is a stroke neurologist trained in neurology at the Helsinki University Central Hospital. He worked as a researcher at the University of Massachusetts in the mid-90's. He holds degrees in neurology, stroke medicine, health care administration, and pedagogics. While leading stroke care in Helsinki, he established the Finnish National Telestroke System in 2006 which still functions and is the only network that offers national coverage. He was professor of neurology and stroke medicine at the University 91̽»¨ between 2015-2021. He has published over 500 scientific articles, edited 2 textbooks, and wrote chapters to 15 textbooks. He supervised 18 doctoral degrees. Dr. Tatlisumak received Nordic Medical Prize in 2010. He was a founding member of the ESO, ESO Conference, and European Stroke Journal. Currently he is working as a private physician and continues doing stroke research.

Terry Quinn

Professor Terry Quinn is David Cargill Chair of Geriatrics, University of Glasgow, UK.  Terry has a broad research portfolio. Research interests include trial methodology, functional/cognitive assessment and evidence synthesis. He has published over 250 papers with recent titles in BMJ, JAMA and NEJM. Terry has various editorial board positions, including coordinating Deputy Editor Age and Ageing. He is past chair of the stroke psychology SIG of the World Federation of Neuropsychology and is both NRS Scotland and RDN UK Lead for Ageing Research. Within University of Glasgow, Terry is vice chair of ethics and coordinates the vascular research theme. He combines his research with teaching and clinical commitments.
