Nordic Texas Initiative

Nordic Texas Initiative is a collaboration between Gothenburg U-GOT KIES, SACC Dallas, and the Honorary Consulate of Sweden in Dallas and was launched in 2024. The initiative aims to enhance knowledge exchange-both academic and industrial-between these two regions, both of which demonstrate strong entrepreneurial drive.

The Nordic Texas initiative is a unified effort by leading members 91̽»¨ U-GOT KIES, Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce (SACC) Texas, and the Honorary Consulate Dallas. The initiators and driving forces of the initiative are Helene Honeybone and Maureen McKelvey.

We firmly believe in the potential for synergies between Texas and Sweden, and especially between the Dallas-Fort Worth area and the Gothenburg-West Sweden region.

The Nordic Texas Initiative provides opportunities and develops activities for students, business people & companies, policy-makers, and researchers to learn about, better understand each other as well as analyze innovation and entrepreneurship in Texas and Sweden, as well as connections between the two.

Why Texas and Gothenburg?

Texas is a booming economy, equivalent to the 8th largest economy in the world. The Texas Triangle of Austin - Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolex and Houston are vibrant in terms of innovation not only entrepreneurs, but also drawing in leading international companies, advanced technology, and sustainable activities.

Delegations 

During 2024,2025 and 2026 six Delegations are organized. The purpose of these Delegations are to:

  1. Facilitate contacts between partners in technology, business, education, entrepreneurship including Master’s students in Knowledge-based Entrepreneurship
  2. Stimulate meeting points to create connections between Sweden and USA
  3. Showcase strengths of the respective innovation & entrepreneurial ecosystems
