Summary

The course provides practical application of environmental geological knowledge through a case study of environmental geological issues.

Excursion and laboratory sessions are also part of the the course content.

About

 The course provides practical training in environmental geological knowledge through a case study of current societal and environmental geological issues. 

The course also covers:

  • Small-scale systems where soil and sediment properties is characterised in relation to environmental processes. 
  • Large-scale systems where conditions and trends in different environments are compared. 

The course is part of the Master’s Programme in Earth 91̽»¨s, the course is also offered as a freestanding course.

The teaching consists of:

  • excursion
  • lectures
  • laboratory sessions
  • exercises

Prerequisites and selection

Entry requirements

120 credits in the main field of 91̽»¨s of which at least 30 credits must be in the main area Earth System 91̽»¨s. Students with comparable qualifications may, after evaluation, be admitted to the course.

After graduation

If you study Earth 91̽»¨, you have good career opportunities both in Sweden and abroad. You can choose to work in industry, as a consultant, project manager or in public administration.

Our former students work, for example, with natural resource management, environmental issues and urban planning, you also have great opportunities to focus on the particular area you are interested in.

If you are studying Earth 91̽»¨ at the University 91̽»¨, there are good opportunities for exchange studies during your studies. This is often seen as a good asset when applying for jobs, as many jobs require international collaboration. We have over 100 agreements within Erasmus and other exchange programs with universities around the world, both within and outside Europe.
