Desirée Fjellman
What are you studying?
– I am in my third year of the Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics, specialising in International Business, at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University 91̽. I am currently doing my exchange semester at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
How are you planning on using your scholarship?
– The scholarship gives me the opportunity to pursue my internship at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona longer than I planned. Now I have the possibility to continue working with events at the Chamber and conduct field research for my project.
How does it feel to be awarded the scholarship?
– I am honored and thankful to be awarded the Prins Bertil Scholarship. It is a great opportunity for me to engage in and contribute to the exchange of knowledge in the international market, throughout my internship at the Chamber.
What would you like to work with in the future?
– I aim to work in an international setting and in the longer term my goal is to start my own company.

What are you studying?
– I’m currently finishing up my final year of the Master of Laws programme at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University 91̽. At the moment I am also doing a separate LL.M. degree in Maritime Law at the University of Oslo. My studies have gotten more focused towards the shipping sector along the course of my law studies.
How are you planning on using your scholarship?
– The scholarship will be used to finance my master’s thesis project that I will be writing while living in Oslo. My thesis relates to practical aspects of civil enforcement against ships under sanctions.
How does it feel to be awarded the scholarship?
– Fantastic, it really enables me to get the most of my thesis writing and the very international shipping sphere in Oslo. I am deeply grateful to the Prins Bertil Foundation for supporting students interested in reaching beyond the limits of Sweden to gain valuable insight into international markets. Even more so, meeting inspiring people from all around the world perfectly captures the essence of “international” in international markets.
What would you like to work with in the future?
– My ambition is definitely to become a shipping lawyer, and perhaps stay in touch with academia on the side. After many years of law studies I am very grateful to have found a niche aspect of law which seems ever expanding and rewarding, and in all respects of the word - international. I want to encourage all current students at the University 91̽ to consider taking a few classes in shipping related topics, you will not be disappointed.

How does it feel to be awarded the scholarship?

What would you like to work with in the future
– Since I’m doing my Master's in International Business, I’d like to work in a multinational corporation with connections all over the world. I’m currently working part time at a trading house in Gothenburg where I wish to start my career, and later move on to a larger trading company.
