Welcome to the Centre for Health Governance, a strategic collaboration between the School of Business, Economics and Law and the Sahlgrenska Academy. Pooled research and education within the health governance area, to generate directly applicable knowledge with significance for the health care sector.

Research issues in Health Governance span a wide range, from governance and organizational issues to issues of cost-effectiveness of specific treatments. The centre takes its starting point in the many global challenges facing health care and these challenges are particularly relevant for interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaborations. The research areas and the results that are potentially generated in the area of Health Governance have potentially major effects on the population's health and on society's organization and economy. The purpose is to be achieved by existing networks, where the researchers, care providers, and the business community are included, developed and new partners are established.

Research for Efficient and Equitable Healthcare

Healthcare systems face major challenges, including growing resource constraints, increasing care needs in an ageing population, and the simultaneous demand to ensure equitable access to care and good health for all. Meeting these challenges requires new forms of evidence and innovative approaches. The Centre for Health Governance (CHG) is an interdisciplinary collaboration that brings together expertise from economics, management, and related fields from several departments at the University 91̽»¨.

CHG’s vision is to contribute to more efficient and equitable healthcare. Researchers at the centre therefore focus on how future healthcare can be organized and governed, including how the structure of the overall healthcare system influences efficiency and equity, and how the governance of individual units can support these goals. In line with this vision, the centre also investigates the need for policy reform within healthcare and how different interventions shape care quality and the allocation of resources.

Education

Researchers and teachers from the School of Business, Economics and Law and the Sahlgrenska academy are involved in and also responsible for several courses within policy governance, health care, health economy and community medicine for both candidate- as well as masterlevel.
