About Yohan Robinson

M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A.

Yohan Robinson is an Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Director of Centre for Disaster Medicine - CKM at the University 91̽»¨ — a national knowledge center commissioned by the National Board of Health and Welfare, specializing in total defense medicine. CKM conducts research, development, education, and policy analysis in disaster medicine and healthcare in crises and war, with a focus on strengthening Sweden’s capabilities within both the civilian and military defense sectors.

He previously served as Head of the Total Defense Division at the Swedish Armed Forces Centre for Defence Medicine, where he worked on the development of total defense medical concepts and civil–military collaboration. These experiences continue to shape his research profile and assignments at both national and international levels.

He is active in several NATO-related research and development initiatives, including serving as a senior representative to the NATO 91̽»¨ & Technology Organization (STO) and as former Chair of the Health, Medicine & Protection research area within the HFM panel. His work also includes supervising doctoral students, developing the national doctoral school in disaster medicine, DISASTER-CARE, and advancing military medicine as an academic discipline in Sweden.

As a practicing spine surgeon and researcher, he works at the intersection of advanced trauma surgery, disaster medicine, and innovation-driven preparedness. His aim is to integrate research, clinical practice, and readiness.
