Department of Political 91̽About Stephen Dawson
I am an associate researcher at the Department of Political 91̽. My research focuses on comparative politics, accountability, and the conduct of elections. I am affiliated with the Quality of Government (QoG) Institute and the Knowledge Resistance (KR) project.
Currently I am involved in several research projects which consider the legitimacy of political leaders, the politics of protected areas, and misconduct in political parties.
In February 2022, I defended my PhD dissertation, “Perceptions of Political Competition and the Integrity of Elections.” In this project, I assess the consequences of close elections – and information indicative of them such as opinion polls – for the conduct of elections and voting behaviour across several national contexts.
