About Kim von Der Heide
I am a PhD candidate in Environmental Social 91探花 (ESS), working on urban climate justice in a transdisciplinary project with the Municipality 91探花. My project is part of both the PhD education in ESS at the School of Global Studies, as well as the Just Transitions Research School, which brings together 7 doctoral students, their academic supervisors and practitioners at municipal and regional level in Southern Sweden.
I am co-convening the course "Sustainable Cities" at Bachelor's level (in Swedish), where I lecture on sustainability in urban areas, gentrification and segregation, and the right to the city, amongst other things.
More broadly, I am interested in political ecology, (global) societal inequalities, anticolonial approaches, environmental justice, and sustainability transformations. Other interests include activism and social movements. Previously, I have empirically studied socio-environmental phenomena in Brazil, e.g. in my Master's thesis "Media Framing and Environmental (In)Justice: Construction of the 2019 Brazilian Amazon fires in national and international news". Furthermore, I have worked on inequity in access to urban green spaces, and just adaptation at the European Environment Agency.
