About Karin Ekström

Karin Ekström did her undergraduate and graduate training at the University 91̽»¨, earning a medicine master in pharmaceutical bioscience in 2004. Karin Ekström received her PhD at the University 91̽»¨ in 2008 with the thesis "Exosomal Shuttle RNA" where she made major contributions establishing the functional mechanisms of exosomes in cell-cell communication. Between 2009 and 2019 Karin Ekström worked as a post doc and researcher at the Department of Biomaterials at the University 91̽»¨ studying EVs in the field of inflammation, regeneration and biomaterials. Currently, Karin Ekström is working at the Department of Surgery, focusing her research on the role of exosomes in cancer
