Main Research Interests

Older adults’ well-being in the context of welfare states, the ageing workforce, aged care systems, active and healthy ageing, and suicide prevention and mental health promotion in later life.

2025-2026 Principal Investigator (PI), Living Conditions, Inequality and Alcohol Use in Old Age: An Intersectional Study, funded by the Systembolaget Alcohol Resarch Council, Sweden.

2024-2025 Principal Investigator (PI), Resilience Promotion to Prevent Burnout: A Cross-Cultural Study in Sweden and the US, in collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin, funded by the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT).

2002-2003 Researcher Assistant, invovled in Research Grants Council of Hong Kong project Attitudes Toward and Cultural Meanings of Suicide in Contemporary Chinese Society. Provided foundational insights for effective public campaigns, programs and policies to reduce suicides in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Teaching, Supervision, and Examination

Courses taught include social (in)equality, social relations, family and the welfare state, mental health and well-being, ageing, European studies, working conditions, and human resource management (HRM). Supervised and examined a wide range of master's and bachelor's theses in sociology, work science and HRM. Course leader for a PhD-level statistical methods course in the social sciences.
