Carmela Miniscalco is a professor of speech-language pathology, affiliated with the Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre, University 91̽»¨. She has worked clinically with children with language and communication disorders for more than 30 years. Until 2018, she was a lecturer at the Speech and Language Pathology Unit, Sahlgrenska Academy, University 91̽»¨. Carmela is a certified university hospital senior speech and language pathologist and works clinically at the Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry Unit, Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg. She previously worked for several years within central child healthcare services.

She is the author of several scientific articles and a few book chapters on language and communication difficulties and their relationship to neuropsychiatric disabilities and other medical conditions. Her main interests in clinic, research and teaching are language and communication development and disorders in children in various clinical groups, e.g. children with autism. Another research interest is early identification of language difficulties and screening of language ability.
