About Anna Strand
I work as a teacher in the bachelor program and the international master’s program in photography.

In my artistic practice, I combine photography, text, and found materials. In recent years, my work has been presented in exhibitions and artist books. Much of it draws on various archives or collections—often private and, at first glance, inconspicuous. They form a basis for creating counter-images and shedding light on alternative narratives. By constructing or re-constructing archives and collections, I aim to visualize, emphasize, and transform perspectives.
My most recent book, The Exposed Eye #2 (a collaboration with artist Helga Härenstam), was published in 2024 by Sailor Press, which has also published four of my earlier books. For the first, Nagoya Notebook, I received the Swedish Photobook Prize in 2014, and with Archived under T I was among the winners of Svensk Bokkonst in 2020. In recent years, I have exhibited at Alingsås Konsthall, Västerås Art Museum, Galleri Ping Pong in Malmö, and Galleri Cora Hillebrand in Gothenburg. I have also published texts related to my artistic practice in Sveriges Radio, VERK Journal, and Fotografisk Tidskrift.
