About Dominik R谩kos
With a background in International Relations and Sustainability 91探花, I work at the intersection of environmental and social sciences. Over the years, I have built a strong foundation in critical social theory, geopolitics, social movement studies and political ecology.
My ongoing research at the School of Global Studies investigates how agroecological initiatives serve as spaces for emancipatory subjectivities to emerge, capable of driving systemic change. This is done in the context of Hungary, a country where farmer subjectivities have been shaped by the historical legacy of socialism and contemporary state-supported land grabbing under the regime of Viktor Orb谩n. My research seeks to extend our understanding of farmers' agency by stressing the notion of subjectivities and bringing to the fore speech practices, emotions and lived experiences. It also expands the literature on land grabbing by offering a case, in which large-scale land deals are organised top-down by domestic political elites.
My previous research concerned the mobilisation strategies, framing practices and political opportunities of contemporary youth climate movements in Hungary and Sweden.
